If parents and guardians are interested in participating in parent council please feel free to join us in the A.R. Kaufman Library for our next meeting on Monday, February 6th 2012 at 7:00pm Attending a Parent Council meeting is a great way of getting involved in your child's education and connecting with other parents in our school. Sports Basketball for grades 7 and 8 has started at A.R. Kaufman, with our boys and girls teams practicing before and after school in preparation for an exciting season. Kaufman assemblies are held in the gym and parents are always welcome to attend! Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre offers many interesting programs for families in the Kitchener area.  Join us in the "Learning is Child's Play" program offered on Tuesday afternoons at A.R. Kaufman school starting on January 10, 2012.  For registration, please call Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre at 519-571-1626  Our Place January Calendar Back to top    Breakfast Program We are pleased to be joining with Nutrition for Learning to offer a Breakfast Program for the students at ARK. If you would like your child to be able to access the Breakfast Program, or if you would like to become involved as a volunteer, please complete the registration form  and return it to your child's teacher. Further information regarding the Breakfast Program will be made available soon. Family Fun Mark your calendars for 2012 Family Movie Night dates Friday, January 27th Puss in Boots We are very excited to be able to show this feature movie to our Kaufman Families! This movie is rated PG Puss in Boots is a great family movie, so remember that all students must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or other adult. Friday, February 24th - Happy Feet 2 Friday, March 23rd - feature to be announced. Library News Our library is filled with an abundance of wonderful reading materials.  Many of the students are enjoying signing out these materials to read at home.   Please ensure that these selections are enjoyed responsibly and returned to the library, in good condition, before their due date. Family Literacy Day To help celebrate Family Literacy Day on January 27th, the Ministry of Education has provided a website with helpful tips and fun ideas to encourage reading at home. abc123 Back to top Chapters Indigo A big THANK YOU to Chapters Indigo Chapters Indigo Love of Reading Foundation has kindly donated many new books to A.R. Kaufman. Students and staff appreciate the wonderful books and resources we have recieved. Have you checked out any of the new books in our Library yet? Back to top Kindergarten Registration A.R. Kaufman will be offering the Full Day Kindergarten program for the 2012-2013 school year. Registration packages are available now for pick up in the school office. Parents can register their children from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Monday, January 30, 2012 until Friday, February 17, 2012. Please bring the completed registration form and yellow immunization form, as well as the required documentation, as stated in the registration package. Children  born in 2008 can be registered to attend Junior Kindergarten. Children born in 2007, who are not currently attending school, can be registered to attend Senior Kindergarten.
